  3. If something doesn't work, there is a possibility of refund.
  4. You will receive content updates, upgrades, bug fixes, and functionality enhancements free of charge.

A: Send an email to support(^.at.^)whiskycompanion(^.dot.^)com and we will look into your question to see if this is something to be handled by us or by Google.

Installing (and de-installing) WhiskyCompanion

Q: How is WhiskyCompanion installed?
A: When the app is purchased, the download of the app should start immediately. The downloaded app is typically 500KB and it installs automatically. When the app is started the first time, it will display the copyright notice and then explain how to download the database.

The database is currently 35MB, and it should be downloaded over a Wi-Fi connection. The database you will download at install-time will always be the latest version and it will not be necessary to apply database updates.

When the database is installed, you are ready to start using the app.

Please see the FAQ concerning backup of the database to ensure that you are not losing valuable data.

Q: Where is the app and the database installed? Phone or SD-card?
A: If you are running Android 2.0/2.1 both the app and the database are installed on the phone. In 2.0/2.1 is it currently not possible to move the app from the phone to the SD-card.

If you are running Android 2.2 or later, the installation process will try to put both the app and the database on the SD-card. For a successful installation on the card you will need a SD-card (obviously), the SD card must be mounted, there must be enough free space on the SD-card.

Q: If I de-install the app, will the database be gone?
A: If you are running Android 2.0/2.1 the database is located on the phone together with the app, and YES, the database will be deleted as part of the de-installation. WhiskyCompanion 1.07 and later have a function for copying the database from the phone to the SD-card. This is a feature for users upgrading from Android 2.0/2.1 to 2.2. When the database is on the SD-card, the user is strongly advised to take backup (copy the database file) on a regular basis if personal notes and ratings are registered in the database.

If you are running Android 2.2 or later, the database is most likely located on the SD-card together with the app, and YES, the database will be deleted as part of the de-installation if the default installation location is used. When the database is on the SD-card, the user is strongly advised to take backup (copy the database file) on a regular basis if personal notes and ratings are registered in the database.
